The material you choose affects how your home looks, how it performs, and how well it holds up over time. Most cladding problems we see on homes across Toronto and the GTA are not caused by the material. They come from poor layout, weak detailing, and improper installation. Below is a clear breakdown of the materials we install, where they work best, and what needs to be done right to get a clean, long-lasting result.
Aluminum Composite Panels (ACM)
ACM panels are used when the goal is a clean, modern exterior with straight lines and consistent joints.

ACM panels work best on homes where alignment and precision matter.

Best for: Modern homes with flat elevations, Front facades and feature sections, Designs that rely on symmetry and clean lines.

What matters: Panel layout must be planned before installation. Joint spacing, panel sizing, and alignment across the full elevation all need to be consistent.

Panels also need to be installed with proper expansion gaps and a stable backing structure. If movement is not accounted for, panels can shift or stress over time.

These are common issues we see on ACM panel installations across Toronto. 1. Uneven joints across walls Misalignment between floors Poor transitions at windows and corners Movement issues when expansion is not handled properly.

Wood-Look Aluminum Siding (Luxyclad & Longboard)
Wood-look aluminum siding is used to add warmth to modern exteriors without the maintenance and movement of real wood.

Products like Luxyclad and Longboard are designed for exterior cladding and long-term performance in Ontario conditions.

Best for: Accents, soffits, and upper sections, Breaking up large flat elevations, Adding contrast to ACM panels and aluminum cladding What matters: These panels run in long, continuous lines. That means alignment must stay consistent across the full elevation.

Starting points, spacing, and transitions all need to be planned before installation. If not, variation becomes visible across the wall.

Like all aluminum cladding, expansion and contraction must be accounted for. Proper spacing and fastening are required to keep lines straight over time.

Common issues we see: misalignment that breaks the wood-grain effect, inconsistent spacing between panels, poor transitions between materials, lower-quality products fading or losing consistency.

What you get when done right: A clean, consistent wood-look finish that adds contrast and warmth, while staying stable and low-maintenance over time.
Custom Exhaust and Vent Integration
Exhaust and vent openings need to be built into the facade so they don’t disrupt alignment or performance.

Best for: Fireplace exhausts, mechanical vents, and wall penetrations

What matters: Openings must be planned with the panel layout before installation. Panel cuts, spacing, and surrounding joints need to stay consistent so the opening looks intentional, not added after.

Clearances and venting requirements must be maintained. Placement affects both airflow and how the facade reads. Sealing around the penetration is critical to prevent water from getting behind the cladding.

Common issues we see: vents cutting through panel joints, misaligned openings that disrupt the facade, poor sealing around penetrations, inconsistent spacing around cut panels.

What you get when done right: A clean, integrated opening that meets venting requirements and maintains alignment across the facade.
Perforated Metal Panels
Perforated metal panels are used when the facade needs airflow, light control, or a layered design.

Best for: Mechanical screening, parking structures, feature facades, and areas where ventilation and privacy are required.

What matters: Perforated panels are not just installed. They need to be aligned as a pattern across the entire surface. Hole pattern, panel direction, and spacing all need to stay consistent. If panels shift even slightly, the pattern breaks and becomes obvious. These panels also require a proper support frame. Each panel is fixed to a backing structure, which means layout and attachment points must be planned before installation.

Ventilation and airflow are part of the design. Perforations allow air movement and reduce pressure on the facade, which affects how panels perform over time.

Common issues we see: patterns not lining up across panels, inconsistent spacing between sheets, panels installed out of sequence, weak or uneven backing causing movement.

What you get when done right: A clean, consistent pattern across the full facade, with proper airflow, controlled light, and a finish that looks intentional from a distance and up close.
Custom Metal Flashing
Flashing directs water out of the facade at windows, doors, and all panel terminations. If it is not installed correctly, water gets behind the cladding. It is installed at all critical points where panels meet openings or transitions occur.

Best for: Windows, doors, parapets, rooflines, corners, and all panel terminations

What matters: Flashing must be designed and installed as part of the cladding, not added after.

Every edge needs to direct water out and away from the building. That includes overlaps, slopes, and how pieces connect to each other.

If flashing is flat, interrupted, or poorly connected, water can get behind the cladding and stay there.

Material choice also matters. Aluminum and galvanized steel are used depending on the location and exposure, and must be compatible with surrounding materials to prevent corrosion.

Common issues we see: missing or incomplete flashing at openings, flat flashing that does not drain water, gaps at joints and transitions, poor integration with panels and trims

What you get when done right: Clean edges, proper drainage, and a facade that keeps water out and performs over time.
Fluted Panels (Aluminum or Composite)
Fluted panels are used to add depth through vertical or horizontal lines.

Best for: Feature walls, vertical sections, entrances, and areas where the design needs contrast without adding another material.

What matters: Fluted panels are not flat. The profile creates shadow, which makes alignment more visible.

Starting lines must be exact. If the first panel is off, that error carries across the entire wall.

Spacing between panels must stay consistent, and transitions at corners, windows, and soffits need to line up with the profile.

Because of the shape, panels must be installed straight and supported properly. Any movement or uneven backing will show through the lines.

Common issues we see: vertical lines drifting across the wall, inconsistent spacing between panels, misalignment at corners and edges, panels not sitting flush due to poor backing

What you get when done right: Sharp, consistent lines with controlled shadow, and a surface that looks straight and intentional from top to bottom.
Aluminum Panel/Plate Cladding
Heavy-gauge aluminum panels are solid metal panels used where a true metal finish with sharp edges and depth is required.

Best for: Columns, canopies, soffits, and feature areas where edges, returns, and panel depth are visible

What matters: These panels are fabricated from solid sheets, so sizes, folds, and attachment points must be defined before installation.

Unlike ACM panels, they do not have a core. They hold sharper edges, but are less forgiving if layout or structure is off.

Panels must be installed on a straight, consistent backing. Any variation in the surface will show through, especially at corners and returns.

Powder-coated finishes must also remain consistent across panels. Variation in alignment or installation can make color differences more noticeable.

Common issues we see: panels not sitting flat due to uneven backing, misaligned edges and returns, inconsistent joints at corners, visible variation across adjacent panels.

What you get when done right: Sharp edges, consistent alignment, and a solid metal finish that holds its shape and appearance over time.
Custom Laser-Cut Privacy Screens
Laser-cut panels are used where privacy and design are both required.

Best for: Balconies, side yards, entrances, and feature sections where visibility needs to be controlled without fully closing off the space.

What matters: These panels are cut to a specific pattern, so alignment is critical. Each panel must be installed in the correct direction and sequence so the design reads consistently across the surface.

Spacing between panels, mounting points, and frame alignment all need to be planned before installation. Once installed, any variation is easy to see because the pattern is intentional and precise.

Finish quality is also important. Coating needs to be even across all panels to avoid visible differences in color or sheen.

Common issues we see: patterns not lining up between panels, inconsistent spacing or gaps, panels installed out of order, visible variation in finish.

What you get when done right: A clean, consistent pattern that provides privacy while still allowing light and airflow, with a finish that looks sharp from every angle.
Composite Decking
Composite decking is used in exterior areas where moisture exposure is constant and the surface needs to stay stable over time.

Best for: Decks, terraces, rooftop spaces, and outdoor areas connected to the facade.

What matters: Decking is not just boards. The structure underneath controls how it performs.

Joist spacing, framing alignment, and slope for drainage all need to be correct before boards are installed. Boards expand and contract with temperature. Spacing between boards and at edges must allow for movement. If not, boards can shift, lift, or buckle over time. Fastening also matters. Boards need to be secured in a way that holds them in place while still allowing movement.

Common issues we see: uneven or bouncy surfaces due to poor framing, boards, installed too tight with no expansion gaps, water sitting on the surface due to lack of slope, visible waviness from inconsistent joist spacing.

What you get when done right: A level, solid surface that drains properly, stays stable, and keeps a clean, consistent appearance over time.
Architectural Louvers and Columns
Louvers and column cladding need to align with the facade so airflow, structure, and appearance work together.

Best for: Mechanical enclosures, rooftop screening, vertical columns, and areas where ventilation needs to be integrated into the facade

What matters: Louvers must align with surrounding panel joints so the facade reads as one surface.

Blade spacing must stay consistent, and the frame must sit square within the opening. Any variation stands out immediately.

Column cladding requires accurate sizing and straight installation on all sides. Corners and joints need to line up cleanly.

These elements must be planned with the layout and structure before installation begins.

Common issues we see: louvers not aligned with panel joints, uneven spacing between blades, frames installed out of square, column panels not lining up at corners.
